Letters
By: The Costume King
You go to college to learn, right? Okay, maybe learn and party; but what if you can mix those two concepts together. You'd be able to justify partying every single weekend. Granted, it would be the most fundamentals that you'd be learning (or teaching, rather), but it would still infuse a little education with your next college party. If this sounds like something you'd like to partake in, than the next party you throw needs to be a Letters Party.
Setting Up
Initially, you may think that a Letters Party simply requires guests to sit around the whole night writing each other letters. This isn't the case at all; again, don't forget, this party is quite educational. It's all about the Alphabet, far more so than the A B C themed party! With a Letters Party, the concept is so simplistic it's silly. The host picks a letter and the guests go along and dress up as something ' literally anything ' that starts with that letter. Okay, so maybe it's not entirely educational, but what can you do?
So, you're the host. Pick a letter! There's your set up. Grab a dictionary and flip to a page; throw a dart at the alphabet, blindfold yourself and play a game of 'Pin the Tail on the Letter'. Do whatever you must to come up with one solitary, lonely little letter. Once you have your letter, simply warn your guests and give them plenty of time to prep. Anyone that shows up unprepared should be turned away at the door!
You can complicate things just a little by decorating the room in things that start with that letter or serving alcohol that starts with that letter. Picked the letter 'R'? Serve variations of rum and plaster pictures of rhinoceroses and rainbows all over the place. Maybe not the best example, but you get the point. Try to make this event as much fun as possible, so think of as many things to throw about as d'cor.
What to Wear?
What you end up wearing is determined by what letter is chosen. The options are near literally endless, but here are some costume ideas:
-
A
- Apple
- Alien
- Al Sharpton B
- Baseball Player
- Banana
- Batman C
- Cat
- Catwoman
- Clown D
- Dentist
- Dennis the Menace
- Diaper E
- Egon (of the Ghostbusters)
- Edible Underwear
- Einstein
' I think you get the point. Seriously, there is no limit as to what you decide. Don't let yourself be limited to simply pre-made costumes, either. If you have to, get creative. Do whatever you can to stand out, just so people know that you're the badass that dedicated many hours to making the perfect costume.
Okay, maybe not a badass; but they'll certainly be impressed!
