Video Games
By: The Costume King
You've spent countless hours playing them, pouring your heart and soul into the characters that are at your fingertips. Video games have almost become an essential part of college life, providing that little escape needed during finals week or an endless form of entertainment that groups of friends can gather around together over. Gaming is the ultimate device to bring people together, so it would only make sense that your next party revolve around it.
Setting Up
Surely you've spent a weekend or two spending as many hours as possible latched on to some controller. Hell, you may have even forgone sleep just to finish 'one last level'. You can easily carry this experience over with a Video Game themed party. Easily.
There is a vital commodity that many people overlook because the concept comes off as 'ghetto', and that's any form of rental center. In this situation, these centers will give you the opportunity to rent a number of televisions for a day so you can set up numerous gaming stations. Simply post around campus asking for people to bring their consoles with them and you can easily turn your dorm into an arcade. Put together tournaments or simply allow your guests to jump into some fun cooperative / competitive gaming.
Apparently, there's this myth that all gamers do is game, eat Doritos, and drink Mountain Dew. I say you may want to spruce up your beverage list a little more, at the very least; and you can do so fairly simplistically.
- Mario's Fireball ' Take any red colored beverage and mix in a dash of hot sauce and light the top on fire.
- Sub Zero's Finisher ' Keep some blue dyed beverages on ice until the moment they're ready to serve.
- Health Elixir ' Mix a red colored beverage with several shots of Red Bull
- Mana Elixer ' Same as a Health Elixir, just with a blue dyed beverage.
- Green Herb ' Mix a small amount of blended herbs or wheat grass with equal parts alcohol (of your choice)
These, of course, are just a few ideas that are pretty easy to put together. With the right imagination, the possibilities can be quite endless.
What to Wear?
Want to dress like a gamer in the midst of a long gaming spree? Than simply wear sweat pants and a pizza-grease stained T-shirt. Want to dress like a gamer that really enjoys the craft? Than you'll want to break out something a bit more impressive. Cosplaying is the art of dressing up, mostly associated with gaming and anima. There are some extremely cool gaming characters that won't require much more work than simply looking on line.
