Hockey
By: The Rulemaster
Hockey is a coin drinking game that’s fun to play with a group of friends around a table. The game mimics the sport by using a quarter as a puck and a beer for a goal. The object of the game is to flick the coin and try to score by hitting your opponent’s beer can.
What You Need
- 2+ players
- 1 quarter
- 1 beer per person
- Table (pulled away from any walls)
Setting Up
Each player should sit around a table. Opt for a smaller table so every player is able to reach around. Provide each player with their own can of beer. The beer will act as the player’s own personal hockey goal.
Rules
Determine who will go first. The first player will spin the quarter. This person, known as the “spinner”, then calls out the name of a random player. The player that is chosen is called a “shooter”. Once the name has been called, all players except the shooter can cover their beer with no more than two fingers. The shooter can then try to shoot the coin into any of the opponent’s goals.
If there is an audible clink of a quarter hitting metal, a goal is scored. There is no penalty for the shooter if he or she misses. If a goal is achieved, everyone must take their beer off the table. The person who hits the beer spins the quarter. Throughout the duration of the spin the person whose beer was hit must chug the beer.
The drinker of the beer has the opportunity to get revenge on the “spinner.” If the drinker manages to finish the entire beer while the quarter is still spinning, he or she can slam down the empty beer can on the quarter. The “spinner” must then drink a beer in the same manner. Play elimination-style or go by a point system to declare a final winner.
