Gauntlet
By: The Rulemaster
If you’re looking for a good card game to play at your next party, consider Gauntlet. This social game has an alcoholic twist that ensures at least a few people are going to leave your party a little tipsy.
What You Need
- 6+ players
- Deck of cards (take out the Jokers)
- Beer or other type of alcohol
Setting Up
Choose one person to be the dealer. The dealer must then lay down five cards on the table in front of the player. From left to right, the first two cards are face up, the third card is face down, and the last two cards are face up. Place the remainder of the cards face down in front of the dealer.
Rules
Starting with the card on the far left, the player must guess whether the next card in the deck will be higher or lower than the face up card. The dealer then turns over the card on the top of the deck. If the card matches the player’s guess, the player moves onto the next card. If his or her guess is wrong, the player takes a drink and must start over. A tie counts as a loss.
Once the player gets to the third card, he or she must guess if the card is red or black instead of higher or lower. When the player reaches the fourth and the fifth card, these cards are played in the same manner as the first card. The player does not win the game until he or she guesses all five of the cards in the sequence correctly. Several decks of cards can be used if needed. If a player successfully finishes the gauntlet, the deck can be reshuffled and the next person in line has the opportunity to play.
